ADRA Strengthens Control Over Abu Dhabi Markets

The Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA), the arm of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development responsible for developing and regulating the emirate's business sector, confirmed the continuation of its efforts to enhance market stability and ensure the availability of goods and services of high quality at fair prices. Within its regulatory and supervisory role, aimed at supporting the national economy and protecting consumer rights, ADRA continuously conducts control campaigns and inspection tours of various establishments and markets to ensure compliance with approved systems and regulations, and to monitor any practices that may affect market balance or harm consumers. In light of current developments, ADRA has issued a circular obliging economic establishments to continue providing basic goods in sufficient quantities, fully complying with the prohibition on raising the prices of goods or services without a legitimate and documented reason that aligns with current legislation. The circular emphasizes the importance of selling in suitable quantities to meet the natural needs of consumers to maintain market balance and avoid any monopolistic practices. According to ADRA Director General Mohamed Maneef Al Mansouri, "ADRA places market stability at the top of its priorities, and its supervisory and awareness efforts contribute to enhancing trust in markets and creating a fair and sustainable business environment." ADRA called on consumers and traders to cooperate and report any irregular practices through official channels, which will contribute to supporting market stability and achieving a balance between all parties.
